Policy Address for the Fiscal Year 2015 clearly states that, based on community input, the SAR government has already submitted to the Central Government the Macao chapter recommendation of the Thirteenth Five-year Plan. The formulation and execution of the plan will speed up the process of developing Macao into (1) a world centre for tourism and leisure, and (2) an economic and trade co-operation platform for China and Portuguese-speaking countries, realizing moderate diversification of economic development, strengthening competitiveness so as to achieve sustainable growth, and continuously improving people’s livelihood.
Since the 1st Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) in 1996, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has actively invited the Portuguese-speaking countries to participate in the event every year. With the strong support of these countries, the number of their enterprises taking part in MIF has been increasing continuously. The 20th MIF in 2015 set up, also for the first time, the “Portuguese-speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition” in the form of “exhibition within an exhibition”. And based on the experience in the past two years, the 2017 Portuguese-speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (“2017 PLPEX”) had been held eventually as an independent event. This year 2019 PLPEX will be held on 17th to 19th October concurrently with the 24th MIF.
